Despite last year’s implementation of universal health care, millions of Americans cannot afford quality, consistent medical care. In urban and rural centers across the nation, many low-income families use hospital emergency rooms as their primary care providers. While some 8 million Americans have signed up for universal health care, a May 2014 report from the Cable News network (CNN) notes, an estimated 48 million people remain uninsured. Those who do have medical coverage cannot be assured of favorable outcomes. The Common Wealth notes that the United States is plagued by one of the most expensive and least effective health care systems in the free world. As with our sponsor, the Voice of Justice, the Bridge MCP works with health care systems, legislators and other key stakeholders to ensure that those in need receive affordable, high-quality, medical care.
