The Bridge Multicultural Project Is Helping To Save Lives
Brooklyn, New York, Tuesday, January 4th 2016, The Bridge Multicultural and Advocacy Project is opening its doors to help save lives by hosting a blood drive on Sunday, January 10, 2016. “At a time of increased racial tension in the city and the nation we choose to focus on the things that create unity and not division. That is why we are sponsoring this blood drive to encourage the multicultural community of Brooklyn to address the unique needs of the Jewish, Islam and Christian faith as they come together to save lives.” says founder Mark Meyer Appel. Studies show that there is a constant decline in the availability of blood to meet the demand and the needs of the multicultural community in our society. The BridgeMPC is inviting the community to join Maimonides Medical Center, American Council of Minority Women, Rabbinical Alliance of America, New York Response Team, Making The Impossible Possible, Yemeni American Association of Bay Ridge, United Jewish Community of Flatbush, and many other faith and community leaders as they unite beyond the differences and increase awareness and the availability of blood to all people of New York City.
The facts are:
- Blood donation is a safe and simple procedure which helps save lives.
- One pint of blood can save 5 babies.
- There is a daily need for blood donors because blood is only good for 35-42 days.
- Donors receive a free mini physical which includes blood pressure screening.
- Anyone between the ages of 16-75 yrs. in good health who weigh at least 110lbs can donate blood
The BridgeMCP is calling the multicultural community to attend this urgent Blood drive. Specifically people of Middle Eastern, African, Jewish, Pacific Island, Native Americans, Asian, Indian, European, Caribbean and African American decent.
Who should come and donate blood? Families, houses of worship, civic organizations, schools, fraternities, community based organizations, rotary clubs, not for profit organizations and the artist community.
